Human Trafficking Awareness
Soroptimists Against Human Trafficking Raising Awareness. Reducing Vulnerability. Empowering Survivors. Human trafficking is a global human rights violation that affects women, girls, and people of all backgrounds. It can involve forced labor, sexual exploitation, servitude, and other forms of exploitation. Soroptimist International recognizes human trafficking as a serious violation of fundamental human rights and calls for global action to prevent trafficking, protect those who have been exploited, and address the conditions that make people vulnerable to trafficking. Did you know? According to the Kansas Legislature (.gov) 2021 State of the Period survey, 1 in 4 teens have missed school due to lack of access to period products. Additionally, 1 in 4 women struggle to afford these essentials, often forcing them to improvise or miss work. 🚨No one should have to choose between their education, career, or health. 🚨 That’s why SIKC is stepping up to help bridge the gap! Bring family and friends and get some retail therapy! And when it supports a good cause, it doesn’t get any better. Proceeds from this event will help us continue our work helping increase services and reduce barriers for women and girls in the Kansas City community. SIKC offers financial awards, non-profit service grants, and mentorship programs every year to help women and girls achieve their educational and career goals.
